Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

The last day of 2011

Our December 31st was spent.. At the beach!!

So many firsts happened on the last day of 2011.

Jiedyn wore his first pair of snazzy aviators..
Nevaeh slept in her very first bed by herself..
Jiedyn slept on a bunk - the top bunk..
Nevaeh saw horses on the beach..
Jiedyn spied a Black Swan..
Nevaeh touched seaweed..
Jiedyn got struck by a wave..
Nevaeh built her first sand castle..
Jie danced in the sea..
Nevaeh got a little sun burnt..
Jie tasted sea water..
Nevaeh decided she didn't like waves..
Jie decided he loved the waves and didn't want to leave..
Nevaeh got her first march fly bite..
Jie made his first sand angel..
Nevaeh buried her feet..
Jie walked in poppies footsteps..
and Mum swam out to where the waves rip.

We spent 7 hours in the car detouring to Nelson which is around 4 kilometres east of the state border of South Australia. The kids did really well in the car.. Once home we washed Pop's faithful car and stayed up for the count down. Once the fireworks started cracking Nevaeh jumped in my lap with her dummy and fell asleep.. She hasn't willingly fell asleep in my arms since she was about 6 months old so I lapped it up bringing in the new year looking at my daughters sweet and peaceful face. Jie and Dad were in and out the door at every crack of firework on the Telly and out the front. I enjoyed a UDL (or three) and a dance before Jie settled down and watched a bit of Pokemon before bed. It was a really good night.

None of us woke up until after 12. The first feed of 2012 was a yummy Omelette. Another first for my kids! Jiedyn loved his and asked for more, while Nevaeh loved her toast more.

Today we said goodbye to Pop, cleaned a little, played under the hose then watched Toy Story 1, 2 & 3. We had Chow Mein (Using a Kantong Recipe Base) for Tea which wasn't much chop so ended the night with party pies and sausage rolls. I won't be buying that again although I must get Dad's recipe. He used to make it when we were kids and there were never left overs.

After the kids went to bed I sat up and watched Lleyton Hewitt play in the Hopman Cup.. I might as well have put a movie on.. but as a true Aussie I never gave up on him. He has been a favorite sportsman of mine for a while now..

So its 2am, I'm about to write out a few postcards, maybe play scrabble on Facebook then hit the hay.

Anyone have any new years resolutions they want to share?..
